The Enhanced 30°–45° version provides greater abduction and is designed for conditions such as rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, dislocation or subluxation, shoulder prosthesis recovery, acromioplasty, and other situations requiring controlled 30°–45° positioning. Yes. In particular, the Enhanced 30°–45° model is designed for post-operative recovery including rotator cuff repair and provides controlled 30°–45° shoulder abduction. The appropriate angle and length of immobilization should be determined by your surgeon.
A shoulder sling is intended to protect and stabilize the shoulder during the period when movement needs to be limited. Both VELPEAU models also include a hand exercise ball to encourage gentle hand movement while the shoulder remains supported. Shoulder exercises and range-of-motion activities should only be started according to your surgeon or therapist’s rehabilitation plan.

The 15°–30° model uses an ergonomic pillow that provides approximately 15° of abduction, with a removable foam pad to increase it to approximately 30°. The Enhanced 30°–45° model positions the arm farther away from the body and offers stronger stabilization for recovery protocols requiring greater abduction. The correct angle depends on your injury or surgical procedure, so follow your healthcare provider’s instructions rather than choosing solely based on comfort.

The Y-shaped shoulder strap system to help distribute the weight of the arm and reduce concentrated pressure on the neck and shoulder. Proper strap adjustment is important for comfort during extended wear. If you experience persistent neck or back discomfort, check the fit and consult your healthcare provider.
This Shoulder Adduction Sling includes a removable hand exercise ball designed to encourage hand movement and muscle activity while the shoulder remains supported. If approved by your healthcare provider, gently squeeze the ball and perform permitted finger, wrist, or elbow movements during recovery. Do not perform shoulder movements outside your prescribed rehabilitation plan.
The ergonomic abduction pillow and adjustable strap system are designed to hold the arm close to the intended position, including while lying down. Properly tightening and positioning the shoulder and waist straps before resting can improve stability.
The adjustable straps and hook-and-loop closures are designed to make fitting easier, but putting on a postoperative abduction sling with one hand may still be difficult, especially early in recovery. We recommend having someone assist you the first few times until you are familiar with the fitting process.
Material & Cleaning Maintenance
Yes, the sling can be cleaned. For best results, follow the washing instructions on the product label or manual, close all hook-and-loop fasteners before cleaning, and allow the brace to air dry completely before wearing it again.
The Enhanced 30°–45° model uses ventilated, sweat-absorbent, latex-free and neoprene-free materials with a soft terry-cloth inner surface for extended wear. The 15°–30° version also uses breathable mesh and sponge padding around the shoulder, chest and waist. Make sure all hook-and-loop areas are fully aligned and secured so exposed edges do not contact the skin or catch on clothing.
