VELPEAU is inspired by Alfred Velpeau (1795-1867), a renowned French surgeon of the 19th century, who developed a type of fixed bandages designed for joint restoration. Velpeau's significant contributions to medicine have earned him high regard in the field. Notably, he was the first to systematically compile a comprehensive textbook on plastic surgery, encompassing over 340 volumes covering surgery, embryology, anatomy, obstetrics, and more. Additionally, Velpeau was the first to accurately describe leukemia, marking a milestone in medical history. His innovative bandage bears his name, and his legacy continues with a hospital named in his honor in Tours, France.
